UK/EU Postgraduate Adult Returner Scholarship

The University is offering six bursaries intended to assist with child-care costs to UK and EU students who are returning to Higher Education study at the University of Edinburgh after a break of at least 3 years.

The bursaries will have a maximum value of £3,000 per annum. Bursaries will be awarded for one year in the first instance, however successful applicants pursuing a postgraduate degree programme of more than one year in length will be eligible to apply for a further bursary in subsequent years.

Eligibility The bursaries will be awarded to mature UK/EU citizens who are returning to higher education after at least three years away from university. Applicants should already have been offered a full-time postgraduate place at the University of Edinburgh (in any study discipline) and should have firmly accepted that offer.

The bursary will be available to help towards the cost of registered or formal childcare, particularly assisting single parents. Formal childcare includes childminders, after school clubs and providers of day-care and education.

The Open Window First-year Scholarships 2011

The Open Window annually awards a number of scholarships to deserving students who have passed the School’s selection. The following schemes for new first-year students are sponsored by The Open Window:

  • Merit scholarships: Learners who have obtained an APS of 39 and higher during their Grade 12 studies or who show exceptional creative talent are considered for these scholarships. The marks achieved in the record exam will be taken into consideration.
  • Empowerment scholarships: Learners from previously disadvantaged groups qualify for these scholarships.
Application conditions

• Applicants must be South African citizens.

• Applicants must have passed The Open Window’s selection.

• Students who have studied in a related field will not be considered.

Application procedures

• Candidates who have passed The Open Window’s selection will receive a scholarship application form.

* Scholarship applications must reach the Academic Director on or before 18 November 2010.

• Successful candidates will be informed of the outcome by the end of November 2010.

• Successful candidates must confirm whether or not they accept the scholarship by fax on 012 665 0253 or email to info@openwindow.co.za on or before 3 December 2010.

• Candidates who fail to confirm in time may forfeit the scholarship.

• The Open Window management will have the discretion to award the scholarship to another deserving applicant should a candidate decide not to accept the scholarship.

The Open Window Performance Scholarships

The Open Window annually awards scholarships to current students on the grounds of their academic performance.

[Worldwide] International Master in Tourism & Leisure

The School and companies network fund scholarships awarded as a partial exemption from Master tuition fee.

Scholarships are awarded based on merit and on specific requirements indicated by the company funding the scholarship.

To apply for scholarships, candidates must:

* Complete and send the application on-line to the International Master in Tourism & Leisure
* Meet the requirements stated in the scholarship description
* Send all relevant documentation indicated in the scholarship description

Admission to the International Master in Tourism & Leisure program is independent from the scholarship process.
When outcomes for admissions are announced, candidates will be informed if they receive a scholarship and the amount.
